Six months later, more precisely on August 8, 2024, the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) lifted the veil on a new update: Matter 1.3. Through the latter, the universal home automation protocol brings a significant number of new features to manage your connected home.

To begin with, Matter 1.3 allows you to monitor your energy consumption (power, intensity, real current, statistics, etc.). The opportunity to benefit from this information directly in the Home app on iPhone or Google Home on Android, and not via the usual external application from accessory manufacturers.

As a bonus, we learn that charging stations for electric cars are now compatible with the protocol. Users can thus adjust the power delivered and program a desired charging capacity.

Water management has also been improved with Matter 1.3, with support for new device types: water meters, motorized valves, leak or freeze detectors, and rain sensors.

The CSA blog post also announces the integration of new products connected to its protocol, namely microwave ovens, ovens, cooktops, hoods and dryers.

Finally, Matter 1.3 adds scene system management, allowing users to trigger multiple Matter-compatible devices with a single command.
