A renewal that we (almost) expected no longer

Not only will this adaptation of the novels by Chinese author Liu Cixin return to Netflix, but The 3-body problem will be able to go to the end of his story and bring it a real conclusion. Indeed, if we do not know how many new episodes have been ordered by the streaming giant, the creators of the series have made it clear that they will tell their story “until its epic conclusion.”

“The extraordinary 3-Body Problem series, masterfully brought to life by Benioff, Weiss and Woo, will reach heights never before seen as they embark on the remainder of this story's breathtaking journey to The Dead,” said Peter Friedlander, vice president of serial drama (US and Canada) at Netflix.

Netflix emphasized that the number of seasons and episodes remaining on the clock 3 body problem will be announced later. We can still note that Benioff has already mentioned, in an interview carried out last April with Collider, that the series would need at least three or four seasons to conclude its story. It remains to be seen whether this is also what Netflix has in mind.

At the time of its release on the streaming service last March, The 3-body problem, was not particularly successful, which seemed to jeopardize its chances of renewal. That said, the show still spent three weeks in first place in the top 10 most viewed series on the platform.

As a reminder, the series follows the journey of a group of scientists who join forces with those of an unorthodox inspector to confront the greatest threat in the history of humanity.

While waiting to learn more about the rest of the series, the first eight episodes of 3 body problem are available on Netflix.
