Seven years after the unconvincing Covenantfranchise Alien is preparing to host a ninth film. So prepare yourself for Alien: Romulus, its new rejuvenated cast, its tone more horrific than ever, and its horde of very aggressive creatures. In any case, this is what a new trailer revealed this Tuesday by 20th Century Studios promises.

Between Ridley Scott and James Cameron

This new film, whose plot remains shrouded in mystery, will follow a group of young people who find themselves confronted in a distant world with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

And terrifying life forms, this trailer offers more than enough. In particular, we can see numerous facehuggers (which attach themselves to the victims' faces), chestbursters (which explode the rib cages from the inside), and of course the famous Xenomorph. Alien: Romulus therefore promises a parade of monsters of quite unprecedented proportions, and a return to a purely horrific DNA.

This Alien: Romulus therefore moves away from the religious themes and epic dimensions of the previous Prometheus And Covenant, and seems to reconnect with a more restricted framework… and anxiety-provoking. We will wait to see the finished product to judge, but at The Digitalsthis is enough to increase our excitement.

In the vast timeline of the saga, Alien: Romulus takes place between the events of the first film Alien (1979) directed by Ridley Scott and its sequel Aliens (1986), signed James Cameron. This therefore places this new opus between the years 2122 and 2179, at the same time as the acclaimed video game Alien: Isolation. From there to seeing it as a disguised adaptation?

Response in cinemas on August 14, 2024.
