The manufacturer demonstrated a color electronic ink screen whose concept is called Project Dali. Integrated into the lid of the laptop, it allows you to display just about anything and everything. Lenovo also showed such a screen during CES in Las Vegas at the beginning of the year.

Asus pushes personalization to its peak, since dedicated software allows you to select creations – currently offered by Asus – or simply to recreate a patchwork of virtual stickers as you would by collecting your favorite stickers.

In practice, everything works well and the colors are particularly vivid for an E-Ink screen. Although the display of the different colors is not instantaneous, the result is rather convincing. The screen definition has not been specified by Asus; we can observe pixels here and there, but this is ultimately not the most important thing for a display which only has a decorative purpose.

The advantage of using an E-Ink screen is that it does not consume energy when displaying a still image, unlike an LCD panel, which therefore does not impact the autonomy of the laptop PC.

Project Dali is, as its name suggests, only a project and Asus has not yet announced possible marketing. So you can continue to stick your stickers on the cover of your laptop while waiting…
