An ultra-bright f/1.4 aperture for bokeh and low light

The optics have a very large maximum aperture f/1.4 combined with a circular diaphragm with 11 blades to produce very marked bokeh effects with shallow depths of field and very beautiful background blurs. A special feature is that it is the only Canon lens to offer a manual diaphragm adjustment ring dedicated to video, therefore continuous (without notch). This very high brightness also ensures that the lens performs well in low light conditions.

A new VCM autofocus motor

On the autofocus side, the lens integrates a complex motorization composed of a Nano USM motor to move a floating lens, associated with a powerful VCM motor (for Voice Oil Motor) in order to move the large lenses quickly and silently. Note that the lens benefits from a design with internal focus, therefore constant bulk. It limits as much as possible the effect of focus breathing, which can be problematic for videographers on point flips. Its minimum focusing distance is 28 cm, which gives it a magnification ratio of 0.28x.
