There Jeep Avenger is produced at low costs mainly for the European market. It is based on the same platform as the DS3 Crossback or Peugeot 2008, has only two-wheel drive at the front and no off-road capability. It nevertheless has the merit of being the first 100% electric model of the brand and of having initiated the movement which led to this beautiful baby Jeep Wagoneer S, the first electric Jeep on the world market.

This model should help its manufacturer achieve its objective of 2 million cars sold worldwide in 2025, even though electric sales are struggling. Jeep's parent company, Stellantis, is even currently reviewing its battery investment strategy.

The most aerodynamic Jeep

Jeep has worked on the aesthetics of its Wagoneer S, giving it a robust design and not forgetting the traditional seven-slat grille, which here has the bad taste of being luminous. The rest is done in sobriety with large smooth surfaces and aerodynamic work.

The beast, 4.89 m long, 2.12 m wide (with mirror, no doubt) and 1.64 m high, actually prides itself on being the most aerodynamic Jeep of all time. Even if the drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.294 is honorable (a Wrangler displays a Cd of 0.45), it does not box in the category of a Porsche Macan electric, for example, with a Cd of only 0.25.

This work helps the 100 kWh battery ensure a range of “more than 300 miles” (482 km) on the demanding US EPA approval cycle. The range according to our WLTP cycle is still unknown, but should exceed 550 km.

Interesting figures, especially since the Jeep Wagoneer S, based on the heavy STLA-Large platform from Stellantis, weighs 2570 kg, or 200 kg more than a Tesla Model larger by 10 cm. Power is therefore required to move it; and that's good, because the machine doesn't lack it. With 608 hp (447 kW) and 837 Nm from a single engine and delivered to all four wheels, the Wagoneer S needs just 4 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standstill, and reaches speed maximum speed of 200 km/h.

A “real” Jeep?

Expeditions in very rough terrain have never been the Wagoneer's vocation and that doesn't change with the new model. Although it is equipped with a four-wheel drive system, this does not make it a truly dedicated off-road model, but rather a capable SUV off-road. Where applicable, customers will be able to use the various driving modes offered via the Selec-Terrain: Auto, Sport, Eco, Snow and Sand.

For those who want more, Jeep has revealed a Wagoneer S Trailhawk concept intended for off-roading. However, it remains very uncertain whether the model will enter production.

In the cabin, there are 45 inches of screens of all kinds, which take the form of a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and an infotainment screen of the same size. Under the latter there is a 10.25-inch screen dedicated to comfort functions and, finally, another 10.25-inch screen in front of the passenger, like theAudi Q6 e-tron.

Jeep's long-standing association with McIntosh Audio continues with an exclusive 19-speaker audio system driven by a 1200W amplifier, all paired with a 12-inch subwoofer.
