It is one of the most anticipated apps of the year. Gemini, or rather the eponymous application allowing access to Google's artificial intelligence, becomes widely available on June 5, 2024. The application is therefore available in more than 150 countries, including France, at least on Android smartphones. It can be downloaded from the Play Store or activated via the Google Assistant, which was not previously available only through indirect means since the beginning of the year. It is of course available in French.

iPhones won't be left behind for long. The Mountain View firm promises that it will be possible to access Gemini from the Google application in the coming weeks; iOS terminals will therefore be able to benefit from it, but access will be a little less quick and intuitive than with an Android mobile.

In terms of functionality, the application does not evolve and still offers the same options. On Android therefore, it can replace, at least partially, the Google Assistant when it comes to configuring timers or setting reminders, even if routines or playing multimedia content are not yet supported. For the rest, the application can provide instant translation, provide text summaries, generate images or, more simply, simplify the search for information online.
