Chassis, connectivity, screen of the Asus ZenBook 14 OLED UM3406HA-QL020W

Certified to the US military resistance standard MIL-STD-810H, this laptop recharges to 60% in 49 minutes and has a sober and elegant appearance with its compact, thin and light Jet Black aluminum design.

This laptop has good connectivity consisting of 2 USB-C including 1 USB 4, Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E ax wireless modules for communicating and connecting remotely, an audio port, a useful HDMI video output to easily connect it to a TV or monitor for example or even 1 USB 3.0 (compatible with USB 2.0) ensuring transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if a USB 3.0 device is connected to it.

You can authenticate yourself biometrically using Windows Hello technology and the infrared webcam enabling facial recognition.
Fortunately, when you're not using your webcam, you can hide it behind a shutter to preserve your privacy.

A backlighting system is of course fitted to the chiclet keyboard, which can be activated to better distinguish its keys when ambient light is limited.

Asus ZenBook 14 OLED UM3406HA-QL020W

Like any model with a format smaller than 15 inches, it lacks the necessary space on the right to accommodate a physical numeric keypad.
Asus, however, has the good news of offering its NumberPad technology here. Once activated, there is a NumPad touchpad on the touchpad to easily enter numbers.

The screen displays much more faithful colors than average with very deep blacks, minimal latency as well as large vertical and horizontal viewing angles.
And this is thanks to its DCI-P3 OLED technology, here associated with touch technology to interact with the system and software by simply applying at least one finger on it (or a stylus not supplied), and this by pressure/gestures.
As a result, the screen has a glossy treatment which revives the colours but is sensitive to reflections in bright environments (e.g. outdoors).
Suitable for Full HD content, the screen also stands out for its 16/10 format which displays more information on the height than the classic 16/9.

Performance, battery life of the Asus ZenBook 14 OLED UM3406HA-QL020W

The Asus ZenBook 14 OLED UM3406HA-QL020W may be of interest to those who want to equip themselves with an elegant, compact High Fidelity laptop equipped with a high-performance multimedia processor offering a large storage capacity.

The overall power it provides will appeal to demanding users since it is based on an AMD Octo Core Ryzen 7 8840HS Zen 4 Hawk Point processor in which the Radeon 780M graphics part is located. It is associated with 16 GB of RAM.

This core is very well suited for CPU-intensive multimedia work that leverages multi-core and RAM, such as photo editing or video editing. You can clearly feel the difference compared to a Quad/Hexa Core processor and 8GB DDR4/5.

On the other hand, there is no GPU acceleration of processing here because this laptop is not equipped with a dedicated graphics card.
Thanks to the Radeon 780M, however, there is no problem viewing HD photos and videos, or playing modest games.

The storage will delight creatives since it offers a large capacity of 1000 GB thanks to which you can install and store multiple software and files including personal creations.

The daily contribution provided by an SSD is much higher than a hard drive. Thanks to the SSD, processing is done faster, as are software launches or start-ups/stops, and you can get to online game maps faster.
It must be said that in addition to being more shock resistant than a hard drive, an SSD is also silent, more energy efficient and much faster.

Booting/shutdowns are much faster with an SSD than with a hard drive, as are software processing and launches. As a bonus, you can access online game maps more quickly, for example.

Finally, autonomy will interest nomads as well as some wishing to equip themselves with a Student laptop high-performance processor suitable for multimedia processing. Because it is as easy to carry as an Ultrabook thanks to its compactness, thinness and lightness, while its battery life is around 9 hours on battery in light use.

Finally, expect this versatile laptop to heat up and make noise under heavy load (e.g. processing).
A ventilated support can be used as a supplement if necessary to contain the temperatures of this multimedia-oriented laptop (remember to check the dimensions carefully!).
