Season 5 of Stranger Things is closer to us than ever! The series Netflix has just completed its 24th week of filming, and is now halfway through completing its ambitious production.

The equivalent of “eight films”

It was Ross Duffer, one of the co-creators and showrunners of the series, who gave an update on the filming of this final season via Instagram. He regularly posts behind-the-scenes images of these latest episodes and has not failed to wish a “Happy halfway point to the best cast and crew.”

A milestone that should not be underestimated, since this fifth and final season will be the most massive of the series so far. As confirmed by actress Maya Hawke, who plays Robin in the show: “It’s like we’re making eight movies! The episodes are really long!”

The most attentive fans will notice that in the photo of the team posted, several people are blurred, suggesting that they may be new members of the cast who have not yet been announced. However, these could also simply be members of the team who do not wish to appear on social media.

Regardless, we at least know the name of one of the major new names of this final season. Linda Hamilton (Terminator) will indeed be there in a role that remains as mysterious as the secrets of The Upside Down.

We also know that this latest wave of episodes will further dig into the mythology of this disturbing parallel world, and that the character of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) should be at the heart of the plot.

If the filming of the season 5 of Stranger Things is therefore on track, let us recall that the launch of its production was not an easy task, because it was delayed until 2023 due to the strikes which raged in Hollywood.

With season 4 of the show airing on Netflix in 2022, we thought the fifth season would arrive in 2024. However, between the 2023 delays and the fact that it takes about a year to shoot the last eight episodes of Stranger Things (plus long months of post-production), we don't expect to see the series return to Netflix before 2025.

Patience, therefore…
