Ubisoft is not done with the adaptations of its video games on the big screen. Despite a very mixed Assassin's Creed in 2016, then a film project The Division Now missing, the Breton firm is once again attempting the adaptation adventure with the film Watch Dogsthe filming of which has just begun.

A Frenchman at the controls

It is via the director's Instagram accountMathieu Turi, that the information was revealed. The Frenchman, already at the controls of the films Hostile, Meander And Minersshows a photo of a clapperboard and a tray in full swing.

In terms of the storyline, the film Watch Dogs can count on the pens of Christie LeBlanc (Oxygen) and Victoria Bata (Fate: The Winx Saga).

As for the casting, only two names are currently associated with unknown roles: Sophie Wilde (The hand) and Tom Blyth. The latter, notably seen in the last film Hunger Gameshas the physique to embody a certain Aiden Pearce, the main protagonist of the game.

A video game saga with a mixed track record

For the record, the first opus of this saga mixing action, hacking and infiltration was released in 2014. Despite mixed reviews, next came Watch Dogs 2 in 2016. Leaving Chicago for San Francisco, with a slightly more “fun” setting and gameplay, this sequel will also divide opinion.

Four years later the game will finally come Watch Dogs: Legiontaking place in the future, in 2029. This time, direction London, where the player can embody any character walking around the city.

It remains to be seen what element of the game will be taken up by this future film. Watch DogsThe only thing that is certain is that there will be hacking and that the issue of mass surveillance should be at the heart of the discussion.

In any case, Ubisoft is right to try the cinematic adventure. It would be a shame to be left out in this period where The Last of Us, Arcane, fallout and others Super Mario Bros are restoring the reputation of video game adaptations on the small and big screen.

For a release date of the film Watch Dogswe will also have to be patient since the film is not expected before 2026.

Fans can still satisfy their anticipation with the enjoyable animated series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix Series available on Netflix streaming platformand also produced by Ubisoft.
