With ever smaller and more powerful components, we may be on the verge of major changes in tech. In any case, different manufacturers are trying to think outside the box. Today, it is the Chinese manufacturer Linglong that is unveiling a promising concept in the laptop sector. Note the word “concept”, because for the moment, we have to make do with a video broadcast live on the Bilibili video site.

A PC that fits in your pocket

Without a name or release date (since only 200 beta copies currently exist), Linglong's proposal is a foldable keyboard that houses a PC and a 60 Wh battery. The firm announces 10 hours of autonomy for office work, and 6 hours for watching videos.

With the integration of a trackpad into the keyboard, this device only needs a screen to be able to be used. It is thus possible to connect it via USB (3.0, 3.2 or 4) to a mobile device, a TV or a screen, while the use of augmented or virtual reality glasses is also possible. Unsurprisingly, connecting this PC to a screen without its own power source will quickly drain the battery.

Concept of the future or announced flop?

In its 15 x 10 cm, 800 g body, which can be stored in a pocket, we find an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor supported by 16 or 32 GB of RAM. An M.2 NVMe SSD is there for storage (500 GB or 1 TB), while Bluetooth and wifi 6 chips are part of the game. The prices, which we imagine are indicative, are as follows: between $412 and $495. Now we have to discover the future of such a product which, while it will certainly divide, offers a concept that could give ideas to the industry.
