Apple Watch SE: Why is it available for pre-order for less on Apple's website?
Yesterday, Monday, September 9, Apple presented its latest Apple Watch Series 10. This latest range stands out with a reworked design, better battery life and a price that does not change one iota: €449 (42 m) or €479 (46 mm). At the same time, Apple seems to have taken the opportunity to modify the page of its website dedicated to the Apple Watch SE (2022), all without any mention during its keynote.
The Apple Watch SE cheaper… without warning?
No announcement about the Apple Watch SE during Apple's keynote. And yet, this morning, on the official page dedicated to Apple's least expensive watch, it is possible to see that it is offered at an even more advantageous price than before… in addition to being available for pre-order! As a reminder, the second-generation Apple Watch SE was released in 2022: discovering it for pre-order on the Apple website therefore seems particularly surprising.
A little tour of the side web archives allows us to see the change: just a few days ago, the Apple Watch SE was available for €279. Today, on Apple's official pagehere it is offered for €249. So how can we explain this price change without warning?
We were talking about it a few months ago: to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Apple Watch, the Cupertino company could have launched a new, cheaper Watch SE thanks to a plastic chassis. But here's the thing: this is not the case here, the aluminum case is still used for this cheaper model. In reality, the Apple Watch SE at €249 as presented on its official page does not present any change compared to the Apple Watch SE which was still offered at €279 a few days ago. This price change and this move to pre-order therefore remains a total mystery at the moment, unless Apple decides to communicate on this decision in the coming hours. As it stands, it is good news certainly, but news that does not benefit from any official explanation.
