Huawei Mate XT: the three-fold foldable smartphone that redefines innovation
While Apple has been making headlines since yesterday evening with the announcement of its new iPhone 16, Huawei seems to have nothing to do with the ambient noise and is taking the opportunity to unveil its brand new innovative model: the Huawei Mate XT. Expected to be presented for a while now based on all kinds of patents and rumors from all over the web, it is now official: it is in fact the very first smartphone that folds in three to be marketed.
An innovative model… but at a price
Teased for several weeks, this new smartphone takes the concept of foldable smartphones and expands it a little further: it has two folds, which allow the model to unfold not in two, but in three separate parts to form a single screen whose size is close to that of a tablet. To be clear, we are here on the largest screen ever offered on a smartphone: unfolded in three, the Huawei Mate XT thus offers a 10.2-inch panel, with a 3.6 mm thick chassis. Thus, in addition to its unique design, the Huawei Mate XT also stands out for its thinness.
Folded, the Huawei Mate XT takes the basic shape of a classic smartphone, all in verticality. Such a premium model also had to be accompanied by particularly attractive technical characteristics. Thus, this new model also integrates a 5600 mAh battery to support these three screens in one. In order to facilitate recharging, Huawei also offers a fast wired charge at 66 W, and 50 W via wireless charging. On the photo side, the Huawei Mate XT is equipped with a 50 megapixel main sensor with a variable aperture lens from f / 1.4 to f / 4.0, accompanied by a 12 megapixel ultra wide-angle module and a 12 megapixel sensor accompanied by a telephoto lens (x5.5 zoom).
Of course, such a design accompanied by such technical characteristics is not available for a ridiculous price. Thus, the Huawei Mate XT is available in China for 19,999 yuan, which corresponds to a little more than €2,500 excluding taxes – if such a product were to be marketed on the Old Continent, it would cost much more than €3,000. Note that this price increases further if you choose the option giving access to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage. The cost of innovation, it should be noted. Finally, let us specify that the smartphone runs on HarmonyOS, Huawei's in-house operating system, and will only be marketed in China, we imagine it in limited quantities. Fortunately, the competition is on the alert, whether it is Xiaomi or ofOppo…
