Titanium for dental care with the new Laifen toothbrush
Chinese manufacturer Laifen announces the release of the very first titanium electric toothbrush: the WaveTitanium. More than a premium investment, the manufacturer claims to have made this choice for medical reasons.
Titanium, the antibacterial material of choice
To justify this choice, Laifen praises the merits of titanium, a material “renowned for its non-toxicity and its antibacterial properties”. It is in fact used in many fields for this characteristic, such as the medical field (medicines, vaccines), the cosmetics field (sun creams, deodorants) or textiles (medical gowns).
Titanium is also particularly strong and light; this is also why Apple chose this material for its iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max (LINK). On the other hand, if this choice is justified for a smartphone, it is less obvious for a toothbrush, less likely to fall and break.
A toothbrush that has not been redesigned
While the Laifen WaveTitanium boasts a titanium coating, its components are relatively unchanged. Like the Laifen Wave, the toothbrush emits high-frequency vibrations to dislodge tartar from our teeth – up to 66,000 vibrations per minute are said to be produced. To accentuate the movements, the head of the WaveTitanium oscillates at a 60° angle.

While three brushing modes are available directly on the toothbrush, the app gives access to many more modes. It is possible to modify the vibration strength, the oscillation range and the oscillation speed; all on 10 levels.
Both toothbrushes are waterproof and IPX7 certified. Finally, they both charge using a proprietary, magnetic charger.
While the plastic version of the Wave is available from €80 on the Laifen website, the titanium version raises the stakes to €160.
