Harry Potter: the future HBO series is looking for its new Harry, Ron and Hermione
The search for the new Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger of the future series Harry Potterwhich will be broadcast on Max in 2026has begun. A call for applications has been launched by HBO and specifies the imperative criteria to be able to try your luck.
In search of an iconic trio
To audition for one of these three main roles, HBO specifies that you must reside in the United Kingdom or Ireland and be between the ages of 9 and 11 in April 2025, which therefore seems to indicate that filming will begin next spring.
As our colleagues at Deadlinethis leaves seven months for the production to find its new Harry, Ron and Hermione, and this is the time it took to assign the role of Harry to Daniel Radcliffe in 2000 for the film franchise. Harry Potter. Rupert Grint and Emma Watson completed the trio for this series of feature films which already adapted the literary saga of JK Rowling about the little wizard with glasses.
For the HBO seriesL'call for applications specifies that these auditions are committed to being inclusive and focused on diversity. Parents or guardians wishing to allow their child to participate are therefore encouraged to apply for each of the roles “regardless of ethnicity, gender, disability, skin color, sexual orientation, or gender identity” of the candidate. A similar approach to casting for a play Harry Potter and the Cursed Childwho had cast Noma Dumezweni as Hermione.
To audition for the roles of Harry, Ron or Hermione, applicants must submit two videos, one of 30 seconds in which they must read a short text or poem unrelated to Harry Potter, and the other of one minute in which they must present themselves.
As a reminder, this new HBO series is described as a faithful adaptation of the novels Harry Potter and should dedicate a season to each of the seven volumes of the saga. We learned last June that Francesca Gardiner would serve as showrunner on the series and that Mark Mylod would direct several episodes.
The series Harry Potter is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Brontë Film and TV. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, Gardiner and Mylod are executive producers alongside David Heyman, who previously produced the films.
