iPhone 16: Apple takes on Google Lens with Visual Intelligence

While Apple Intelligence (AI) had already made its mark at WWDC 2024, Apple unsurprisingly added another layer during its keynote on September 9, 2024. Unveiling the highly anticipated iPhone 16the event also allowed the Apple company to unveil an additional AI-boosted feature: Visual Intelligence.

Available later this year in the United States, this new feature directly attacks Google's famous Lens service. We are indeed in the presence of visual search, which allows you to “learn instantly about everything you see”explained Craig Federighi, Apple's vice president of software engineering.

To enable this feature, Apple takes advantage of a new button introduced on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro: Camera Control. Simply hold it down and point the lenses at the desired object to get information about it.

The opportunity to get instant information about a business, a poster or an object during a stroll in town, for example.
