Pixel 9: These exclusive features are coming to Google's older Pixels
With each new generation of smartphones, Google gives pride of place to photography. In the series of What's new for the camera and image editor introduced on the Pixel 9, the Mountain View firm plans to bring some of them to previous generations.
Assemble Debug has also shared with Android Authority some discoveries made on this subject in version 6.99 of Google Photos. We learn that the latter has found evidence indicating that Reinvent And Auto Crop are preparing to arrive on older Pixels.
For those who haven't been following Google's AI news with the Pixel 9 : Reinvent lets users change the background of an image with a simple text query, while Auto Crop revises the framing of a photo, while allowing it to be extended to the edges thanks to generative AI.
In detail, Assemble Debug discovered the lines of code of these two features of the Google Photos application of the Pixel 9 in the version reserved for the Pixel 6, Pixel 7 and Pixel 8. This indicates that “Google could be working to bring Reimagine and Auto-Crop to its older flagships.”
On the other hand, the version of Google Photos dedicated to other brands of Android smartphones than the latest generations of Pixel does not include these lines of code. Google would therefore wait a while longer to deploy them to everyone.
Regarding theMagic Editorit is not known when the deployment on the old Pixels is planned. Android Authority imagines that this could arrive in a future Feature Drop.
