An almost ironic sense of timing seems to inhabit Sony Interactive Entertainment. The dust of the officialization of the PS5 Pro and its price of €800 had barely fallen when the Japanese firm put second-hand consoles online, almost confidentially, on its store PlayStation Direct. As Jarod de tells us Gamekultthese consoles are labeled “Certified Reconditioning”, ensuring internal processing close to new with the exception of potential “cosmetic imperfections“.

What can you expect from a console refurbished by Sony? All the equipment needed to run it (cables, controllers, manuals), a new box… and an optical drive. Thus, no Digital Edition of the PS5 is (for now) offered refurbished, nor the “slim” model released at the end of last year. Only the CFI-1000 launch model equipped with a blu-ray player is available for purchase for €450. A one-year manufacturer warranty is also included.

For comparison, the new console is offered at around €550 in stores. A price which, we remind you, was set in the fall of 2022 after an increase linked to inflation. The price of the refurbished console offered by Sony is thus “only” €50 cheaper than that of the launch in November 2020.

Although almost four years old soon, the PS5 remains nevertheless a very good console, with an unbeatable quality/price ratio for the power on board. The launch of the PS5 Pro, dedicated to a demanding and technophile public, is expected for November 7 at a price of €800.
