Steam: It is now possible to share your games with this latest update

On March 18, Valve announced that it was replacing its Family Sharing features with a brand new system, called Steam FamiliesThe latter was able to be tested in beta for 6 months by users of the platform, and here it is finally arriving in public version.

A system that is not without limits either

Steam Families essentially allows multiple players to play multiple different games from the same Steam library. For example, if the father wants to play Final Fantasy VII Remake while the mother wants to spend some quality time on Balatro, it is possible for both parents to play both games at the same time. However, if both parents want to play Balatro at the same time, then this will be impossible: one of them will have to wait for the other to finish before being able to play. However, if Balatro was purchased twice (i.e. once on the father's account and once on the mother's account), it will be possible for both parents to enjoy it at the same time. And even in offline mode!

Valve says this new feature is primarily intended for immediate family and can include up to 6 members, but nothing prevents players from including friends in Steam Families. However, it will be necessary to be careful not to want to play the same game at the same time. On the other hand, if an adult member leaves a Steam Family, they will have to wait an additional year before being integrated into a new family. Children can only be integrated into a Steam Family by an adult.
