Dexter Original Sin: An Exalted Teaser and a Release Date for the Prequel Series

The prequel series of Dextertitled Dexter: Original Sin offers a launch date on Paramount+ and is revealed today in a first teaser that smells of the 1990s.

Satisfying Dexter's Urges

This first teaser of Dexter: Original Sin allows us to hear the voice of Michael C. Hall (who played Dexter in the original series and is back here as narrator) say: “I'm a killer, but I wasn't born that way. My history and my surroundings made me that way.”

Interspersed with images revealing the cast of the series (Christian Slater, Patrick Dempsey, Sarah Michelle Gellar…), this short trailer shows the new actor of Dexter, Patrick Gibson, juggling between his activities within the Miami criminal police and his first steps as a serial killer.

The first season of Dexter: Original Sin is composed of 10 episodes that take place in 1991. According to its official synopsis, the series “follows Dexter as he goes from college student to vigilante serial killer.”

“When his murderous urges can no longer be ignored, Dexter must learn to control his dark side. With the help of his father Harry, he adopts a code designed to help him find and kill those who deserve to be eliminated from society while avoiding detection by the authorities. A particularly difficult challenge for young Dexter as he begins an internship with the Miami Criminal Investigation Department.”

The cast of the series is completed by Molly Brown, James Martinez, Christina Milian, Alex Shimizu and Reno Wilson. Clyde Phillips, showrunner and executive producer of Dexterresumes his positions on this prequel.

Always more Dexter

In addition to Original Sinwhich is coming to our screens in December, another Dexter spin-off series is in the works for Paramount+. Entitled Dexter: Resurrectionthis series will once again feature Michael C. Hall as Dexter, in a plot set in the present, after the events of Dexter: New Blood. We don't yet know the details of the plot of this new show but we already know that it will air next summer.
