In June 2024, Netflix announced that its app would be available on the second and third generation of Apple TV. would not benefit from future updatesUltimately, this decision should prevent the viewing of series and films on the Apple company's boxes.
Three months later, it's the turn of Apple phones and tablets to get the same bad news. Indeed, users of the application on iPhone and iPad have just been informed of the end of support for models running under iOS 16.
The announcement from the video streaming platform specifically concerns the following devices:
- iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
- iPhone X
- iPad 5
- iPad Pro (1st generation)
The end of support does not mean that the application no longer works, however. The current version can still read the Netflix movies and seriesbut chances are that the lack of new updates in the coming months will put an end to viewing on those iPhones and iPads stuck on iOS 16.
It is therefore high time to upgrade to a new Apple smartphone (why not a iPhone 16A 16 PlusA 16 Pro or a 16 Pro Max while we're at it).
Interesting little information shared by iGenerationthe majority of iPhones (77%) and iPads (68%) were running iOS 17 in June 2024, just before the announcement of iOS 18. More than a third of Apple smartphone and tablet users were running iOS 16 or a lower version.
