A good one hardware without good software is nothing. The PlayStation 5, and even more the future PlayStation 5 Pro at 800€are no exception. Sony therefore regularly improves the system of its home console with updates. The manufacturer details today the latest one, the deployment of which will be done progressively over the coming weeks. If you do not immediately see all the elements described below, it is normal.
Coming Soon A New Welcome Center for the PS5
The main addition of this update is soberly called Welcome Center and replaces the Explore tab, reserved for the United States. A selection of American players can benefit from it now, but the others will have to wait for its deployment in the coming weeks. This is a new space to be personalized with movable widgets and whose size can be changed, in order to see various information at a glance as soon as the machine is launched: available storage, battery level of accessories, online friends, trophies… The background is also customizable, including with animated images or your screenshots.
Also in the coming weeks, it will be possible to share a link to a party's voice chat via a button on social networks or messaging applications. This button is located in the voice chat card in the PS5 control center. The PlayStation App mobile application will also soon allow you to generate this link.
New features starting today
Finally, three other elements previously tested in beta are available today if you update your PS5. First of all, custom 3D audio profiles for headsets and headphones are arriving. Concretely, it is a question of carrying out audio quality tests in order to analyze different factors and thus create an audio profile adapted to each person's hearing. Head to Settings > Sound > 3D Audio (headphones) to do this.
Next, Sony is introducing Adaptive Charging for its controllers. This is for the PS5 Slim, as well as the upcoming PS5 Pro. If enabled in Power Management > Features Available in Rest Mode, this feature saves power by adjusting the amount of time the controller (DualSense, DualSense Edge, PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, and the Access Controller) receives based on its battery level.
Finally, a setting allows you to manage Remote Play by user. Useful for authorizing or not access to your console in a more detailed way.
