Tim Burton's famous ghost continues to scare American audiences… and the competition! Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is anchored in first place at the American box office thanks to a second weekend at 51.6 million dollars. Enough to impose itself more than the new films of the week, Am I Racist? and the horror thriller Speak No Evil.

Beetlejuice very solid

After its great start and its 110 million, “Beetlejuice 2” is holding up very nicely in its second week with a decline of only 53%, while for comparison, successes of this ilk generally lose between 60 and 70% of their audience at the same time.

The sequel went on to gross $188 million in the United States, and $264.3 million worldwide. Unsurprisingly, over 70% of the film's total comes from American soil, with the 1988 film having achieved cult status first in the country before becoming a global pop culture object over the years. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is already one of the hits of 2024 despite its substantial budget of 100 million dollars.

Speak No Evil was one of the new releases this week. The horror film starring James McAvoy (X-Men, Split) debuts with $11.5 million, a launch that will be enough to absorb its modest budget ($15 million), but which is undoubtedly far from the expectations of Universal and Blumhouse.

It's also a somewhat disappointing year for Jason Blum's studio, which has not (yet?) found the film that will give it its 2024 success, as have been Five Nights at Freddy's And M3GAN last year.

In the box office sequel, Deadpool & Wolverine continues its impressive career and remains in third place in the ranking despite an eighth (!!!) week of operation, peaking at more than 621 million dollars. Despite this, it remains the second success of the year, behind Inside Out 2 (652 million).

The 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is also set to become the 22nd biggest global success with $1.3 billion generated worldwide, thus surpassing Frozen.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice should have real competition as early as next week, with the arrival of the animated film Transformers: First Classpreceded by excellent word of mouth. The appointment is made.

Transformers: First Class is expected to conquer the box office next week.
