Canal+: what if Apple Music joined the streaming offer?
If the partnership between Canal+ and Disney+ should no longer be relevant In a few months, the encrypted channel seems motivated to compensate this loss for the subscribers concerned and, more generally, to spoil everyone.
After the addition of the Max platform to the myCanal Ciné Séries package, or even Free addition of Paramount+ for all subscribersCanal+ could well strengthen its partnership already in place with Apple, and already destined to last several years. After the integration at no extra cost of the Apple TV+ series and film catalog into all Canal+ subscriptions, now music from Apple Music could arrive.
An integration to be put in the conditional
The information is still to be taken with a pinch of salt due to the lack of an official announcement. However, a certain Anaël on X noted that the subdomain apple-music.canalplus.com pointed to the Canal+ store, and not to an error page as one might expect. A potential sign that the URL was blocked by the firm in order to use it later.
Let us note that on our side, at the time of writing these lines, this URL leads to… an error. The mystery and the conditional therefore remain intact.
Canal+ is not resting on its laurels
However, this integration, although unprecedented, would make sense. In some of its offers, Canal+ already offers access to secondary elements going beyond simple video streaming (press, comics, audio books, etc.). However, it remains to be seen whether access to Apple Music (normally billed at €10.99 per month) will be reserved for the most expensive subscriptions or added at no extra cost from the basic level of Canal+.
The question of the integration method also remains. Will it be possible to access the content of the Apple Music service directly from the myCanal application, or will it be necessary to go through the Apple application by entering your Canal+ identifiers? The second possibility seems the most likely, even if for Apple TV+ films and series both solutions are proposed. However, it is easier to integrate Apple TV+ videos into myCanal, also an SVoD platform, than music.
Whether this is all real or not will probably be revealed soon, as such a move could well further strengthen Canal+'s position as one of France's leading entertainment companies.
