The large-flowered hydrangea 'Saxon' ® (H. macrophylla) forms a compact bush and offers you its large colored pompoms covering abundant medium green foliage. Its uses are multiple and allow you to flower every corner of the garden: in a clump with other shrubs or perennial plants, in a flowering hedge, isolated, in undergrowth (because it tolerates shade very well) and even in large pots on the balcony.
L'hydrangea Large-flowered is a shrub with moderate growth, reaching an adult height of 1.20 to 1.50 m and about 1 m wide. It adapts to all types of soil, preferably non-calcareous and humus-rich (rich in potting soil, compost or heather soil). Planting is carried out from February to May and from September to December, in a sunny or semi-shaded location. It is an excellent coastal plant that is frequently found in Brittany, for example.
Once established, the large-flowered hydrangea is content with pruning at the end of winter to remove dead flowers, dead branches and excess branches in the center of the shrub. In summer, you will need to pay attention to watering and mulching at the base will be beneficial to keep the soil cool. Finally, remember to pick a few flowering stems during the summer to create beautiful fresh or dried bouquets.
