Shinshu, the birthplace of all Grand Seiko Spring Drive watches, was once an important place for silk production. The dial of this classic model features a satin-finished sunray pattern, paying homage to this heritage.
The very fine grain of the pattern radiates outwards and catches the light in all directions. Its soft texture, reminiscent of the finest silk, could only have been created by the application of a light silver, using a special silver plating technique.
Thanks to Grand Seiko’s unique Spring Drive movement, the seconds hand glides silently and smoothly across the dial without a “tick,” perfectly reflecting the natural and perpetual flow of time. The power reserve is 72 hours when the watch is fully wound and is displayed on the discreet indicator located near the eight o’clock index.
