Monster (Netflix): we already know the killer who will be at the heart of season 3
Netflix don't waste time with Monsterthe anthology series created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan that has had a huge success in 2022 with its first season dedicated to the killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
Season 2 hasn't even been released yet, but plans for Season 3 are already on the table. Its subject? The killer and body snatcher Ed Gein, and he will be played by actor Charlie Hunnam.
One more monster
While season 2 of Monsterwhich will be released online this Thursday, September 19, tells the story of brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez, convicted in 1996 for the murder of their parents, and who Dahmer followed the exploits of the serial killer of the same name in the 1980s, the third season will go back much further in time.
The Butcher of Plainfield, Ed Gein was born in 1906 in Wisconsin and was active in the 1940s and 1950s in his native state. He is officially the killer of “only” two victims, women whom he killed and mutilated, although many other murders are also attributed to him.
Gein was adept at grave-breaking and dug up many bodies and then “transformed” them. In fact, the police found lampshades, curtains, gloves, etc., made from the skin of these victims at his home. Charming.
If this sounds vaguely familiar, it's because Ed Gein's crimes have inspired much of popular culture. Psychosis, The Silence of the Lambsor even Texas Chainsaw Massacre are just a few stories from Gein's heinous deeds. Ryan Murphy has already been inspired by Gein as he based season 2 ofAmerican Horror Story and the monstrous character of Bloody Face.
This time, however, the screenwriter decided to really examine the serial killer's journey and to play him he chose Charlie Hunnam. The actor is known for playing the role of biker Jax Teller in the seven seasons of the series. Sons of Anarchy.
Coming soon to the series Prime Video CriminalHunnam has also recently been seen on Netflix in Rebel Moon by Zack Snyder.
Announcing Hunnam's casting and the subject of Season 3 at a screening of the new season of MonsterMurphy also specified that this third part, already written, should start filming next month. Clearly, Netflix is not wasting a minute with this series which remains today the third most viewed original production in English in the history of the platform.
It remains to be seen whether season 2, the nine episodes of which arrive this week, will attract as many curious people.
