iPadOS 18: a deployment that poses problems for the iPad Pro 2024 (M4)
Operating system upgrades don't always go smoothly, as evidenced by the case of iPadOS 18. The new version of the operating system intended for Apple iPads, which had been rolling out since the beginning of the week, is no longer available for the company's tablets: Apple has interrupted its update campaign. iPadOS 18 is no longer offered for OTA download (over the air).
Some iPad users are indeed reporting on the portal Reddit that their model was bricked, that is to say blocked, during the process ofupdate : they report that their machine shut down during the update, then refused to turn back on. This does not concern all tablets, since the users concerned are talking about iPads equipped with an M4 chip, i.e. iPad Pros of the 2024 generation. While Apple has not yet commented on the facts, the simple fact that the brand is pausing its update campaign on M4 iPads indicates that it is investigating the problem and that it will soon offer a new version of iPadOS 18 on these models.
Let's remember that the operating system, parent of iOS 18 also available (without reported cases of blocking) since September 16, offers the same type of new features. We find customizable icons and a control center, but also a new Calculator application that had largely raised a smile when it was first mentioned, during the WWDC June 2024but also the automatic transcription of audio files or even a game mode.
