So here are the Sonos Arc Ultra and Sub 4 revealed to everyone, and unveil their new design as well as a new technology: the famous Sound Motion, initiated by Sonos following the acquisition in 2022 of the Dutch company Mayht. The latter specializes in transforming electrical signals into sound waves in order to offer a more powerful sound, but also deeper in the bass. The Arc Ultra benefits from this, and should thus act as a spearhead for the new technology, in order to justify this major acquisition of two years ago.

The Arc Ultra & Sub 4, new pioneers at Sonos

On the one hand, Sonos is preparing the Arc Ultra, a sound bar capable of offering significant bass via Sound Motion technology. As a bonus, a completely new design, apparently available in both black and white to match all living room decorations. This new product comes with a significant price: you will have to pay $999 to enjoy it across the Atlantic (no doubt that it should be about the same price in euros). Sonos is therefore choosing the high-end, and also offers its users to associate it with one or more Sub 4, the purpose of which is mainly to focus on bass sounds.

The Sub 4 stands out from the Arc Ultra with its less striking changes in both design and performance. Once again, the Sub 4 will be available in black or white, and will this time offer a matte finish. However, the price may once again cool the ardor of potential fans of such a product: you will have to pay $799 for the subwoofer, which once again makes it a premium product. So to enjoy a complete installation as communicated directly by Sonos (an Arc Ultra associated with two Sub 4s), you will have to spend around $2,600…

This new positioning of Sonos with high prices may worry more than one, especially since currently, Sonos is not necessarily in a position to afford such a decision. Whether internally (low morale among employees, difficult to understand decisions on the part of management) or externally (new application full of bugs with missing features), the firm was even forced to apologize for its recent actions through its CEO Patrick Spence. In response to this unfortunate situation, Sonos then decided to postpone the launch of some of its new products.. But now the machine seems ready to start up again, even though most of the company's internal and external problems have not yet been resolved. It remains to be seen whether these new products will be able to make us forget everything.
