Security and macOS Sequoia: it would be urgent to wait before updating
Available since the beginning of the week, macOS 15 (Sequoia) may already be installed on your Apple computer. But, as is often the case with major operating system updates, it may be prudent to wait a while before clicking “install”. This is even more true in the professional world, especially since Apple seems to attract negative comments here.
Security experts identify problems
Several users, and especially members of companies in charge of security tools, including SentinelOne, ESET, Microsoft and a certain CrowdStrikenoted that the update broke features of their tools. This was due in part to the fact that most of them did not have time to adapt their solutions to Sequoia.
Patrick Wardle, behind the startup DoubleYou, says bluntly: “I understand that writing bug-free software is a challenge, but maybe if Apple spent less time and money on marketing, and more time testing its software, we would all be better off!“
An update not finished cooking
CrowdStrike says it is waiting for Apple to release an update to Sequoia to make its tools compatible. Network connection issues are noted on the ESET side, while bugs are reported with Microsoft Defender and SentinelOne tools, which urges its customers not to update their devices immediately.
Beyond security tools, it seems that the Firefox browser is also experiencing significant issues when used with macOS 15. In short, Apple seems to have its work cut out for it.
With this lackluster deployment, there is no doubt that Microsoft must want to play it especially cautious with the launch of Windows 11 24H2, the deployment date of which has not been announced. ultimately not known.
