watchOS 11 is available: what's new in the new Apple Watch update
On September 18, 2024, iOS 18, iPadOS 18 And macOS Sequoia were accompanied by another update: watchOS 11. The Apple Watch thus takes on new features, mainly in the health and sports areas.
For starters, Apple is finally offering a pause feature for activity rings. The opportunity not to break your series of filled rings, and to put an end to untimely notifications on days when you don't have the desire or the strength to fill them. Note, it is also possible to define a level of calories burned (aka the red ring To move) different depending on each day of the week.
The application Shape on iPhone has also had a facelift for the home screen. The latter can now be personalized to highlight the information that matters most to each person: latest sessions, number of steps, trends, physical activities, etc.
Two new health features are then included on the Apple Watch with watchOS 11 :
- Vital signs to monitor your overall fitness level, which also has a dedicated application
- Training load to adapt your physical activity according to the intensity of your recent efforts
The first feature requires five days of data (heart and respiratory rates, wrist temperature, sleep duration and blood oxygen) to provide its initial conclusions, while the second will require waiting a full month.
Finally, watchOS 11 brings the following improvements:
- Three new ones dials (Photos, Reflections and Fluctuations) * Additional widgets and complications
- The applications Tides to follow information around the beaches (limited to the United States for the moment) and Translate to write or dictate text in order to translate it into other languages
- Double tap now integrates into third-party apps
- New options for Remoteincluding the ability to change volume, launch Siri, mute/unmute, change subtitles, and turn Apple TV on/off
- A Action button more convenient for Apple Watch Ultra, with a long press to access a list of shortcuts
