Chassis, connectivity, screen of the Lenovo ThinkBook 16 G6 IRL (21KH001XFR)
Ruggedized to meet the U.S. military resistance standard MIL-STD-810H, this thin and light laptop adopts an original elegant appearance with its thin and light two-tone Arctic Grey design with an anodized sandblasted finish.
It runs on Windows 11 Pro, a more complete operating system than classic Windows 11 due to its advanced network management and security tools like BitLocker.
As a bonus, a 2-factor biometric authentication system is integrated, secured by TPM 2.0 technology and usable via Windows Hello technology: a fingerprint reader as well as an infrared webcam authorizing facial recognition.
The connectivity integrated into this laptop is good, including 2 USB-C including 1 Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6 ax and Bluetooth 5.2 modules for wireless remote connections and communications, Ethernet and audio ports, a practical HDMI video output to easily connect it to a TV or monitor for example or even 2 USB 3.0 (compatible with USB 2.0) providing transfers up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if USB 3.0 peripherals are connected to it.
When you need to better distinguish the keys, simply activate the backlighting of the chiclet keyboard.
The Full HD screen, whose 16/10 format displays more information in height than the classic 16/9 format, benefits from wide viewing angles, both horizontal and vertical, thanks to its IPS technology.
On the other hand, as this is not high-end, the colorimetry here is average.
In any case, as it is adorned with an anti-reflective coating, the screen offers better visibility in bright environments (e.g. outdoors) than a glossy panel.
Performance, battery life of the Lenovo ThinkBook 16 G6 IRL (21KH001XFR)
The Lenovo ThinkBook 16 G6 IRL (21KH001XFR) is a stylish, thin and light 16-inch business-oriented laptop designed for everyday use.
It delivers very good performance in this area such as surfing the Internet and office applications, viewing photos and videos or even playing light games.
Because it is built around 16 GB of RAM and a low-power Intel Core i5-1335U Raptor Lake processor with 10 hybrid cores housing the Iris Xe graphics solution.
This duo is even suitable for small multimedia processing that takes advantage of RAM and multi-cores, such as light video encoding or photo editing.
Especially since it is supported to accelerate processing by SSD storage, generally ensuring great responsiveness and fluidity on a daily basis.
The contribution of the SSD is reflected in particular by rapid start-ups/stops, processing, but also rapid application launches, or even rapid arrival on online game maps.
In addition to being robust, silent and energy-efficient, an SSD is indeed fast.
It is a 512 GB SSD that we find embedded here, as in many models on the market.
A good point, however, if you need more space: an M.2 slot is available to integrate a second SSD.
And more simply, we always have the possibility of connecting this Ultrabook to an external storage device, preferably USB 3.0/USB-C/Thunderbolt type so that transfers are carried out quickly.
As for the autonomy of this elegant aluminum Ultrabook oriented towards professionals, easy to transport due to its controlled weight and its thinness, expect while waiting for more complete tests on approximately 6 hours of operation on battery in light use, which could interest some in search of a Student laptop not needing a lot of autonomy.
