This iconic household appliance brand is making a strong entry into the full-automatic coffee machine market
In France, the coffee bean market is doing well, thank you very much. It is recalled that sales of fully automatic machines with grinder jumped by 45.8% in 2021 and even if unequipped households are becoming increasingly rare, there are still a few diehards to convince, a few machines to replace and therefore, a few market shares to conquer. It is therefore not so surprising to see a few manufacturers who are still relatively absent bursting into this sector with big teeth. This is the case of KitchenAid, a specialist in small household appliances, which is marketing not one, not two, but three new full-auto coffee makers.

The KF6 5KES8556 represents the entry level of this new collection, but you still have to spend €1499 to get it. Of course, the brand's DNA – robust and stylish – seems to be respected and the KF6 is dressed in metal walls that inspire confidence. KitchenAid fans will be delighted to learn that many colors are available (stainless steel, black truffle, porcelain white) even if the emblematic candy apple red will not be part of it. Under this enticing dress, the manufacturer has chosen to equip its KF6 (and all of its full-auto machines by the way) with a metal grinder, more subject to heating, certainly, but also more resistant than the ceramic sometimes used. Of course, the KF6 is capable of developing enough pressure to deliver an espresso, but its scope of action does not stop there and it can make long coffees, Americanos… In total, 15 recipes have been planned, some of which use milk. However, the KF6 is not equipped with a milk carafe, but with a simple tube to connect to the coffee dispensing nozzle and which you will immerse in your own container, pot or open carton.
In order to make it easier to use, the KF6 has a control panel with a color screen (not touchscreen, it seems) and touch-sensitive buttons. It should therefore be very easy to change the smallest aspect of your drink in detail: quantity delivered, temperature, percentage of milk, etc. As for consumables, the entry-level full-automatic machine from KitchenAid has a water tank with a comfortable total volume of 2.2 liters and a 270-gram bean container. A small original feature of the latter is that it is removable and can (theoretically) be emptied easily to change coffee. The manufacturer specifies that the grinder is equipped with an automatic purge system so that the tastes and aromas of the different vintages do not mix. Finally, lovers of decaffeinated coffee will not feel left out, as a ground coffee trap has been provided.

The upgrade translates into a larger number of recipes on the KF7 since this time 20 preparations are saved. As is the case on the KF6, four different profiles can be saved so as not to have to set your drink each time. The screen becomes touch-sensitive and is larger. In addition, the KF7 comes with a milk carafe, but it will still have to be connected to the coffee maker with a flexible hose. The price goes from €1499 to €1799.

Finally, the most expensive model in the range, the KF8 has forty recipes and can store six user profiles. Special settings for plant-based drinks are also included. In addition, it has the largest screen, still touch-sensitive. Of course, all this comes at a cost and this time you will have to part with €1999 to get it.
