BYD: This electric car shows record sales in a few hours
Just 36 hours after its launch on September 20, more than 5,000 orders have been received for the Denza Z9GT electric car. The 2,010 units of the limited edition, a nod to the year the brand was founded, have already found buyers.
Price starting at $47,480 for the Z9GT
To thank early buyers of the Z9GT, Denza is offering loyalty points worth ¥520 to the first 10,000 customers. Unlike pre-orders, firm orders require a deposit that cannot be refunded.
The Z9GT, the first model in Denza's Z series of sedans, is available in five versions: three plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and two pure electric (BEV). Prices range from ¥334,800 to ¥414,800 (approximately $47,480 to $58,820). It should be noted, however, that, if these models arrive in Europethe price will not be the same since taxes apply.
In terms of features, the Z9GT electric car incorporates BYD's e3 technology, a simplified version of the e⁴ system that powers ultra-luxury vehicles. This innovation notably enables rear-wheel steering and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds.
Denza: a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes
As explained in the intro, Denza was born in 2010, it is a joint venture between BYD and Daimler (renamed Mercedes-Benz in 2022). Initially held in equal shares, BYD gradually increased its stake to reach 100% of the capital, at the beginning of September 2023.
But that's not all: Zhao Changjiang, head of sales at Denza, announced on the Chinese social network Weibo that the Z9, a sedan with a price list similar to that of the Z9GT, is preparing its launch. Its marketing and first deliveries are scheduled for November. Chinese electric vehicles, like the Xiaomi SU7 sedanare experiencing real enthusiasm.
