A second chance for football fans. The streaming service DAZN, the main broadcaster of the Ligue 1 championship, has decided to extend the discount offer on its Unlimited subscription by seven days. This allows you to save up to 50% per month.

An admission of failure?

Considered prohibitive, the various subscriptions are therefore reduced until this Sunday, September 29 at midnight.

The monthly offer of €39.99 per month thus drops to €19.99 for the first two months. If you opt for the annual option, this allows you to reduce the price per month from €29.99 to €19.99. To recap:

  • Unlimited monthly subscription: €19.99/month for two months then €39.99/month (no commitment)
  • Annual Unlimited subscription: €19.99/month instead of €29.99/month (12-month commitment)

DAZN is thus going all out on its monthly subscription with a reduction of €120 (€239.88 per year instead of €359.88).

Some observers see the extension of this discount as a sort of admission of failure on the part of the streaming platform, and a panicked reaction to the low number of subscribers after two months of competition. Indeed, according to our colleagues at West FranceDAZN has so far only attracted 150,000 subscribers and hopes to increase its numbers.

Will this help reverse the trend and prevent users from turn to piracy? Nothing is less certain.
