Lanterns (HBO): the future Green Lantern series has found its Hal Jordan
Five months after it was made officialthe Green Lantern series becomes even more concrete with the casting of one of its main roles. Indeed, the future HBO program entitled Lanterns has just hired actor Kyle Chandler to play the character of Hal Jordan.
Chandler preferred to Brolin and McConaughey
This information relayed by our colleagues at The Hollywood Reporter (but not yet confirmed by HBO) comes after several weeks of rumors regarding potential Hal Jordan actors. These included that studios were hesitating between Josh Brolin, Matthew McConaughey and Ewan McGregor.
But it was ultimately Kyle Chandler who was given the score for the iconic Green Lantern of the Silver Age of comics (1956 – 1970). A quality supporting role seen in the films, among others Argo, Super 8 And The Wolf of Wall StreetChandler is best known for the cult series Friday Night Lights (2006-2011), in which he played coach Eric Taylor.
The series Lanternsconsisting of eight episodes, is co-written by Chris Mundy (Ozark), Damon Lindelof (The Leftovers, Lost) and Tom King (Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow), and co-produced by HBO and DC Studios.
Currently in the casting phase, it should be filmed between January and June 2025 in Atlanta, for an estimated broadcast in 2026 on Max streaming platform from Warner Bros. Discovery.
