Marshall Monitor III ANC: a headset packed with technology and incredible battery life
A little before the summer, the British manufacturer released the helmet Major V and headphones Minor IVupdates to its entry-level models released in 2020. Marshall is now unveiling the Monitor III ANC which, like the latter, gives pride of place to new technologies.
Record 70-hour battery life with ANC enabled
Right from the start, this headset from Marshall stands out with its record battery life of 70 hours with noise reduction activated. It would therefore do much better than some competitors such as the WH-1000XM5 from Sony or the AirPods Max from Apple.
The brand also announces improved sound performance compared to the Monitor II ANC, despite transducers reduced to 32 mm. Marshall also intends to offer more breadth to the music by widening the sound stage thanks to the 3D Soundstage spatialization technology, in the same way as Bose does on its QC Ultra Headphones.
The Monitor III ANC also features the Dynamic Loudness function, which modulates the tone of the headphones in real time in order to enjoy clear and pleasant sound regardless of the volume. In addition, it would also be able to adjust the volume by taking into account surrounding noise without sacrificing the quality of reproduction.
Furthermore, without giving further details, the brand announces a “significant improvement in active noise reduction technology”. Of course, a transparency mode is still there to listen to the environment if necessary. Bluetooth LE compatibility paving the way for Auracast technology is also worth highlighting. The Monitor III ANC is thus ready for future public audio sharing applications.
An ergonomic and ever more rock'n'roll helmet
Marshall obviously emphasizes the comfort and portability of the headset by mentioning “extreme lightness and remarkable foldability”. The headset can indeed be completely folded up to be easily transported in its now rigid carrying case. In any case, intuitive use on the move should be a given thanks to the integration of a customizable control button and microphones capable of reducing wind noise. Few changes are to be noted in terms of design, which remains as iconic as ever.
All these improvements, as well as inflation, come at a cost, however, as the Monitor III ANC will be available from this September at a price of €349, €100 more than the Monitor II ANC.
