This September 24, Google launches its TV Streamer, a multimedia box designed for take over from Chromecast. This new device is powered by Google TV, which is being updated for the occasion. And, good news for people with a Chromecast or a TV running this OS: this update concerns them too.
Various new features for Google TV
First of all, the home panel on the right of the interface is equipped with tools around home automation. A new dedicated button allows access to notifications and options for your connected devices.
Light bulb brightness, speaker volume, pop-up notifications from a doorbell, video feed from a camera… no need to move from your couch to view and manage all of this. Everything is compatible with Google Assistant, and therefore voice-controlled.
A bit of AI and home automation
Then, screensaver fans can now create designs using AI prompts, or dig into their memories on Google Photos. More concretely, a new page dedicated to sports has appeared in the “For You” tab. Still around content, using Gemini Google offers better previews of popular films and series. Summaries, user reviews or even season-by-season analyses are there to help the viewer choose what to launch.
On our recent Philips TV This update is not yet available. No doubt the deployment will be done in stages over the next few weeks.
