Amazon's new entry-level Kindle leaks
About two years after launching new Kindle e-reader models, Amazon seems close to repeating the maneuver with a 12th generation. The entry-level model from 2022 is currently out of stock and a Spanish e-commerce site seems to have given the game away. A page, since removed, detailed the features of the new entry-level model, which Amazon should officially present on October 1st.
From the more efficient entry level
Apparently available in black or matcha green, the 2024 version of this Kindle should be a little lighter than the previous one (154 g versus 158 g). Nothing revolutionary on this front then (nor on that of the dimensions at 10.85 x 15.78 x 0.8 cm), while a USB-C port and a wifi chip will be back, accompanied this time by Bluetooth.
Still 6 inches in size at 300 ppi, the screen of this new Kindle should however offer better contrast and 25% more efficient backlighting. Will Amazon use the improved E Ink screen of the 2021 Kindle Paperwhite on this occasion? Mystery. On the other hand, no mention of warm lighting to rest the eyes.
Still some mysteries for the Kindle 2024
A new Dark mode will however be offered, while it should be faster to turn pages. 16 GB of storage will be included to store e-books, while Amazon announces a battery capable of lasting eight weeks. The firm also highlights the ecological side of its product, composed in particular of 75% recycled plastics.
As for the price, the Spanish site only indicated €119, without specifying whether or not this included the ads displayed on the screen. The previous generation, then offered in black or blue, was billed at €99 without ads, €109 with. See you in a few days for the official announcement.
