Samsung Galaxy A16 and A16 5G: affordable and more durable smartphones
It was without fanfare that Samsung unveiled the new Galaxy A16 and A16 5G, two affordable smartphones that succeed the Galaxy A15, which was only presented last April. The newcomers have a thinner design, with a thickness of 7.9 mm compared to 8.4 mm previously, while offering a larger 6.7-inch screen, compared to 6.5 inches for the previous A15. The Galaxy A16 and A16 5G also benefit from IP54 certification, guaranteeing protection against dust and splashes. A triple camera module, a Dimensity 6100+ processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 5000 mAh battery complete the picture.
Improved autonomy and durability
Samsung is announcing an impressive 2.5 days of battery life for the new Galaxy A16 and A16 5G, compared to two days for the previous generation. An improvement that should allow users to enjoy their smartphone for longer without worrying about recharging. At least in theory, because when our test of the Galaxy A15 5Gwe were able to see that this promise of two days of use was not really kept.
As expected in recent daysSamsung also had a nice surprise in store for future owners of these phones since its Galaxy A16 and A16 5G benefit from 6 years of software and security updates, compared to 4 years of updates and 5 years of security for the previous generation. Add to that a very good score of 8.4 for the repairability index. Beyond the speeches, here are two elements that should in fact ensure that these two smartphones have a much higher durability than what equivalent competing models offer.
Colors and prices
The Galaxy A16 will be available in three colors: Gray, Sea Green, and Midnight Blue. The Galaxy A16 5G will be available in Gray, Turquoise, and Midnight Blue. Both will be offered in a single configuration of 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Galaxy A16 will be marketed at a recommended retail price of 219 euros, while the Galaxy A16 5G will be available at 249 euros.
