We discussed this a few weeks ago: Spotify has been preparing the implementation ofa handy feature that allows artificial intelligence to generate playlists personalized ads based on a simple text query. Last April, Spotify launched this feature, but only in the United Kingdom and Australia. Today, the Swedish giant is expanding the reach of its feature, which is now available (still in beta) to premium users of the music streaming service in the United States, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand.

The simplicity of AI at the service of the consumer

So how does this feature work? The idea is simple: if the user has a playlist idea in mind but doesn't want to spend hours looking for tracks to enhance it, they simply need to make a text query to the artificial intelligence, which then does the work for them. Spotify gives some particularly telling examples in his blog. The following request allowed one of Spotify's employees to benefit from a dedicated playlist to accompany her in her move: “Give me some funky, happy songs to help me unpack my boxes in my new house.“. The result? A playlist named “Energized Unpacking Grooves,” filled with music that matches the text query.

For now, this feature is only available in some English-speaking countries (Australia, UK, USA, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada), but it should be available in other countries soon. As usual with new AI-related features, the biggest barrier is language, which is why we will have to wait a little longer (as with Apple, where We will have to wait until 2025 to benefit from Apple Intelligence).
