Supergirl: The Next DC Movie Finally Found Its Big Villain
Kara Zor-El has found her future rival. The actor who will face Superman's cousin, performed by Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) In Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrowhas been found. And this one is none other than the actor Matthias Schoenaerts.
Schoenaerts in Krem?
The Belgian actor, seen in particular in the films Bullhead And Of rust and boneas well as in the series Django And The Regimehas thus agreed with DC Studios and Warner Bros. to be the big baddie of the feature film.
While it is still unknown what role Schoenaerts would play, Supergirl's adversary in the original comic book is a certain Krem of the Ochre Hills, responsible for the death of the father of Ruthye, an alien who became Kara Zor-El's friend.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is adapted from the eponymous work by author Tom King published in 2022, and will tell the adventures of Kara Zor-El, who remained living on a piece of Krypton adrift in space.
Last January, producer and DCU architect James Gunn described the film with these words: “We see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents since he was a baby, and Supergirl, who was raised on a shard of rock near Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life.”
As a reminder, the DC Extended Universe (or DCEU) officially ended last December with the release ofAquaman and the Lost Kingdomand is replaced by the more sober DCU (or DC Universe).
Written by Ana Nogueira, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is directed by Craig Gillespie (Me, Tonya, Cruella) and notably produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran. The film is expected in theaters in June 2026.
