ZFE radars are delayed: what date for their deployment?
The ZFE, set up in several large urban areas, aim to reduce pollution by limiting access to vehicles considered to be unclean. The system is based on the Crit'Air classification which awards a sticker according to the environmental impact.
ZFE radars will not arrive until 2027
And we told you about it in our columns: to enforce these restrictions, the installation of ZFE radars was planned. Except that we learn, from our colleagues atAuto Plusthat their deployment is experiencing significant delays due to technical obstacles.
Initially scheduled for 2024, the commissioning of these radars has been postponed to 2027. An additional delay to resolve technical problems. In the meantime, experimental devices will be deployed, such as in Saint-Étienne, where educational radars will be installed by the end of the year. No fines on the agenda, initially, their role being to test the system in real conditions.
The experimental phase aims to refine the operation of the radars, prevent detection errors and avoid unjustified sanctions. The data collected will be used to optimize the devices before their deployment on a larger scale in other French cities.
