Samsung Galaxy S24 FE: the “affordable” high-end smartphone finally unveiled

It's become a habit: Samsung offers a “lite” version of its high-end smartphone every year a few months after its release. This year, it's the newly announced Galaxy S24 FE that has the difficult task of carrying its range until the end of the year. Unsurprisingly, this model is very much inspired by the design of the Galaxy S24 with its flat edges and rounded corners. Available in four colors – blue, yellow, sea green and graphite, the device also has an aluminum frame and a Gorilla Glass Victus+ back that promises effective protection against shocks and scratches.

This Galaxy S24 FE is also equipped with an Exynos 2400e processor, which should logically offer superior performance to that of its predecessor, the S23 FE equipped with the Exynos 2200. As for its Full HD + Dynamic AMOLED screen, it offers an adaptive refresh rate of 60 to 120 Hz and a maximum brightness announced at 1900 nits, compared to 1450 nits for the S23 FE. But above all: the diagonal of the screen increases to 6.7 inches, compared to 6.3 inches.

A versatile camera

On the photo side, the Galaxy S24 FE has a triple module composed of a 50 Mpx wide-angle main sensor with optical stabilization (OIS) and f / 1.8 aperture, capable of achieving a 2x zoom by cropping. It is accompanied by a 12 Mpx ultra wide-angle (f / 2.2) and an 8 Mpx telephoto lens with OIS (f / 2.4). At the front, a 10 Mpx selfie sensor (f / 2.4) ensures self-portraits.
Otherwise, the S24 FE benefits from the same Provisual photo engine as the Galaxy S24, promising improved zoom capabilities thanks to the combination of AI and cropping in the 50MP main sensor. AI should also improve the quality of night portraits.

Improved battery life and convenient features

The Galaxy S24 FE's battery increases to 4,700mAh, up from 4,500mAh in the previous model, offering an additional 3.5 hours of battery life according to Samsung. The smartphone supports 25W wired charging and 10W wireless charging.
Finally, the S24 FE obviously benefits from all the Galaxy AI features, such as instant translation, message assistant, interpreter, web assistant, frame search, Gemini, note assistant, transcription, transparent translation, generative editing suggestions, generative sketching and portrait studio.
