Xiaomi unveils the Buds 5: complete but reasonable earphones
One of the problems that can sometimes be encountered with certain tech products from Chinese manufacturers is that they are not always released in all territories. This is particularly the case with Xiaomi's Buds 4 headphones (not to be confused with the Redmi Buds). Good news however for the new iteration, obviously called Buds 5, since they will arrive this time in our country. And, another good news, on paper the proposition seems very interesting.
Xiaomi Buds 5 aims for sound excellence at a reasonable price
Stored in a classic case to connect via USB-C for charging (not fast), the headphones weigh 4.2 grams each. Xiaomi promises long-lasting comfort here, while the autonomy is announced at 6.5 hours, or 39 hours with the case.
Offering active noise reduction combining two modes (deep and balanced) and a bit of AI to adapt to the environment, the Xiaomi Buds 5 are compatible with many audio codecs: SBC, AAC, aptX Lossless and aptX Adaptive. Its 11 mm drivers should therefore deliver high-resolution sound as well as powerful bass.
Harman AudioEFX settings also promise high-end audio quality, with support for 360° sound for compatible content. Three microphones and AI noise reduction are there to make the cleanest calls possible. Of course, we'll have to judge all of this in testing.
Beautiful promises to be verified
The Xiaomi Buds 5 will be released “in the coming weeks” at a price of €99. They will be available in three sober colors: gray, white and black. When purchasing, Xiaomi adds three months of Spotify Premium to the basket for free for new users of the streaming platform. Too bad they didn't choose a service that offers Hi-fi quality…
