Goodbye Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, Qualcomm would turn to the Elite!
According to a promotional poster of the future Xiaomi 15 spotted by the site Smartprixthe new flagship of the Chinese giant, which has just presented its new 14T and 14T Prois expected to be announced on October 23, 2024 in China.
This is not the only information the visual contains. The latter would indeed confirm the rumor, relayed this week by Digital Chat Station on the social network Weiboaccording to which the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 would ultimately be called Snapdragon 8 Elite. An evolution in the naming of chips which could be explained by a desire to simplify Qualcomm's brand image, in order to establish consistency with its components intended for computers, as Snapdragon X Elite released earlier this year.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite would be manufactured using TSMC's 3nm process, which would allow it to improve its energy efficiency and performance compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Supposed to offer an increase of 30 to 35 % of CPU performance, this processor would integrate two high-performance cores at 4.0 GHz and six efficiency cores at 2.8 GHz, using the Oryon architecture adopted by the Snapdragon X Elite.
This new chipset should be announced before October 23, during the Snapdragon Summit 2024 held in Hawaii. In addition to the Xiaomi 15, it is finally rumored that Samsung's OnePlus 13 and Galaxy S25 could benefit from this highly anticipated SoC.
