HuggingChat: generative AI at the heart of your Mac with this new application
HuggingFace, the Franco-American and open source alternative to ChatGPT, is now available in native version on macOS. This new application, developed by the eponymous company, brings generative artificial intelligence to the very heart of the computer and invites us to rethink our daily workflow.
HuggingFace integrates into macOS and wants to rethink workflows
The HuggingChat app for Mac takes the form of a minimalist command prompt bar. To call it, simply perform the following keyboard shortcut, programmed by default (modifiable): CMD+SHIFT+ENTER.

More than an integration of a generative AI chatbot accessible in record time on a computer, HuggingFace invites us to review our workflow. Such an application can be useful in many cases:
- Obtain assistance to correct a piece of computer code that is not working;
- Have help to understand certain features of software, such as an Excel formula to perform a specific action;
- Know the correct spelling of a word, rephrase a written passage or find synonyms.
In its settings, HuggingChat allows the user to choose which artificial intelligence model to use for responses. In the same vein, you can activate (or deactivate) web search for generating responses.
The multiple possibilities of this app as well as its speed of execution of prompts suggest that HuggingFace has a bright future ahead of it.
HuggingChat for Mac is a beta application to download on Github. It is necessary to create a free account on the HuggingFace platform in order to start using HuggingChat natively on macOS.
