Tesla: a mysterious prototype based on the Model 3 seen on the road
Tesla doesn't launch a new model every four mornings, so when a prototype of the brand is seen on the road, it's generally not insignificant. This is what we can say when discovering an astonishing, fully camouflaged Model 3, filmed by Reddit user jacknv in California.
This car, which could be a Tesla development prototype, appears to be based on the Improved Model 3 appeared last year. However, its headlights seem to have a design closer to that of the old Model 3. It could simply be a camouflage trick to avoid showing the parts which are actually tested and which could equip future models.
However, the hypothesis of a new restyling of the Model 3 seems unlikely, only a year after the sedan has profoundly evolved. It is rather the facelift of the Model Y which is long overdue, while prototypes of the restyled SUV have already been seen.
A prototype of future affordable Teslas?
Would Tesla have used a Model 3 to test parts intended to be used by this future restyled Model Y? This thesis cannot be completely ruled out, but another theory further arouses the curiosity of fans of the brand. Thus, we know that Tesla is planning new models that are more affordable than the Model 3 and Model Y, but which will take a large part of their current platform, in order to be able to be assembled on the same production lines.
In fact, one could imagine that this mysterious Model 3 would be used as a development mule for these future models. Perhaps it includes technologies that will equip them, or others that will never reach mass production? This is the beauty of these development prototypes, the subject of all speculation, but whose ins and outs are kept secret.
