Usually, when it comes to Simpson in the press, it is to highlight how accurately the Fox animated series regularly manages to predict the future in some of its episodes.

This time, for the launch of its 36th season last Sunday, the show launched in 1989 decided to stay modern, but certainly surprised its world with a certain talent.

End clap for The Simpsons?

Baptized “Bart's Birthday“, the first episode of this season is marked throughout by Fox with a watermark indicating that this is the final episode. Not from the season, but from Matt Groening's series! Enough to certainly disturb all the spectators.

Especially since this episode 1 opens with an animated version of presenter Conan O'Brien. The series' former screenwriter is here hosting a gala in tribute to the show, which Fox has allegedly decided to shut down.

Bart's birthday follows, who hasn't changed his 10 years since the start of the show. To mark the occasion, this time the 11th birthday has indeed arrived.

In addition, as the final episode requires, many characters benefit from a conclusion. Mr. Burns dies (!), Principal Skinner retires, Moe's closes, Milhouse moves, the comic book store owner has a baby, etc. The icing on the cake, recreations of cult endings from no less cult series are present, such as Game of Thrones, Succession or even The Sopranos.

AI like a lizard

Eventually, Bart emerges from what was ultimately just an AI-generated illusion. Indeed, he is still 10 years old and this entire “final episode” was in reality written by an artificial intelligence at the request of the screenwriters.

The true end of the series is probably still far away, but it will be interesting to compare the humans' proposal to that of the AI. In the meantime, spectators seem to have been satisfied with this surprise and the multiple references found there.
