Whatsapp: many new features planned for videoconferencing
As long as you don't own one of these iPhones released between 2012 and 2016this new upcoming update should interest you: Whatsapp joins the competition by providing a few more options for personalizing video calls with the addition of filters and backgrounds. Thanks to the filters, the user can add a touch of different color, or even give a slightly more pleasant dimension to the visual offered to the people contacted. Backgrounds allow you to hide the user's real background when pointing their selfie camera at themselves.
Whatsapp makes video calls more fun
So, Whatsapp will add 10 new filters and 10 different new backgrounds, which allow for a whole bunch of different combinations. The filters offered are: warm, cold, black and white, skylight, dreamlike, light prism, fisheye, vintage TV, frosted glass and two-tone. As for the backgrounds, the user can simply blur it, pretending to be in a living room, an office, a café, on the beach or in a forest for example. In addition to these additions, Whatsapp also deploys some editing options to allow better lighting, in particular, in order to artificially improve the brightness of the user's environment.
To access these new options, simply select the effects icons at the top right of the screen, then choose from the selection of filters and backgrounds now available to users during duo video calls or in a group. Please note that this update will be rolled out gradually over the coming weeks, so if you still don't see any changes, that's normal. It will potentially be necessary to wait a few days before the application is updated for you.
